Cheesman, Algernon Edgar Percy
Surgeon Captain Algernon Edgar Percy Cheesman R.N. officially reported killed on active service, had served in the Navy since 1910. His early service included a commission in China as medical officer of the river gunboat Woodlark.
During the last war he served at sea in the armed merchant cruisers Calyx and Alcantara, and from 1916 on special service at Chatham and the Admiralty. From 1919 to 1921 he was in the cruiser Cares in the Mediterranean.

As a surgeon commander from 1922 he had a varied record of service afloat in the cruisers Weymouth, Canterbury and Cleopatra and the repair ship Resource; and on shore at the Royal Marine Division, Chatham, and the Anti-Gas school at that port, as well as at the R.N.
